Greetings! I am very excited to welcome all of you to register for the Fall Meeting to be held at the Historic Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia on September 25-26, 2020. In light of the current environment, the meeting will be offered with the options of in person or virtual attendance format. The theme of the meeting is “Healing Wounds in Our Society: Addressing Angst About a Tumultuous World". We are grateful to have an impressive group of presenters who will discuss various topics regarding acute and chronic anxiety that many of our patients (and we) are experiencing during these turbulent times. On Friday, September 25, we are honored to have Dr. Stephanie Peglow present on the benefits and risks of using benzodiazepines in psychiatric practice. We encourage members to attend this session, followed by a reception with area legislators and exhibitors.
On Saturday, September 26, the conference will begin after the committee breakfast meetings, in which all attendees are welcome to attend. This is a good time to visit the exhibitors who support our conference. For our residents, there will be a breakout session facilitated by PRMS. The presenter will be Ann McNary, JD. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to view and vote on poster presentations by trainees from the various psychiatry residency programs in Virginia. The conference will end in the afternoon following a panel discussion led by Virginia Board of Medicine Director, Dr. Bill Harp. Below is a list of the lectures to be given. Please refer to the full meeting guide for more information on these speakers, their presentation goals and their qualifications.
We hope that you will visit the stunningly beautiful city of Roanoke and join us at the PSV Fall conference. We look forward to seeing you, whether it be live or virtually.
Stephen Cunningham, MD
